"Zlatan Ibrahimovic he is our Swedish hero" was a chant that filled all Manchester United fans full of pride and excitement, but with his stint in Manchester seemingly coming to an end ,after 2 trophies (and a Community Shield) accumulating a total of 28 goals across all competitions, where next for Zlatan? is the question on the lips of many.
Zlatan seems to defy age and still continues to conquer- as the Swedish verb 'Zlatan' states. At the age of 35 Zlatan still seemed to adapt to a prolific Premier League line up and showcased his skills, that any team would be grateful to have leading the front line. Zlatan is yet to confirm his departure from United, but is looking ever more likely after the Premier League included Ibrahimovic in a list of the released players after injuring the ligaments in his Knee during his Europa League semi-final appearance, but what options does 'The Swedish King' have next in his illustrious career?
MLS- America:
Zlatan has before been linked with a move to the US, following the likes of Beckham, Kaka and David Villa. The move makes sense on paper due to the MLS being an ever-growing league which is growing a profile for 'soccer' in the States due to the big name signings (which Ibrahimovic would more than definitely be). However, with so much still left in the tank for Ibrahimovic is this move the best for his career? I'd argue not. His height, strength and skill struck fear in many Premier League defenders and his prowess can still challenge much of the talent across the top European leagues. The money which could be offered may persuade Ibrahimovic, as well as the lifestyle and would be a new challenge for Zlatan to pursue so it may yet happen, but in my eyes wouldn't be the move most suited to Zlatan.
Possibility:
7/10
China:
With the Chinese Super League pumping money into football, both commercially and in game, it would be a very hard offer for Zlatan to turn down. The Chinese League is very much similar to the MLS with a recognition for the sport growing in the country in an attempt to make the Chinese National team a more recognisable unit in world football, but does this plan really suit Zlatan. If Zlatan has ever caught glimpse of the league, the rough style and constant eagerness for battle would be right up his street; yet the football is still severely lacking quality in all departments and many of the big name stars seemingly have struggled in the league- have a look at Patho's many penalty misses. Zlatan still has yet to conquer the Bundesliga and a return to either Italy or home country Sweden is looking like a much more feasible option than the Chinese Super League at the moment.
Possibility:
4/10
Bundesliga:
The only top European league that Ibrahimovic has yet to delve into is in Germany and with Zlatan's mindset of conquering all this could have an outside chance of happening. Hertha Berlin took to Twitter with a tongue in cheek offer for Zlatan, but will a move to Germany happen for Zlatan- potentially. With Aubameyang looking for a way out of Dortmund and Red Bull Leipzig needing even more quality, the possibility of a new challenge in Germany paired with Champions League football may be very appealing for Zlatan and may be a key aspect if a move happens. I'm certain that German football fans would also love the thought of this star in their league and the fanbases of all clubs would be in ore of Zlatan. Just imagine Zlatan's name being chanted by 'The Yellow Wall' or Munich Ultras 😋.
Possibility:
7/10
Serie A:
With Zlatan already playing for both Milan clubs a move back to Italy could be likely. AC Milan have already been on a spending spree this summer in a hope to revive the sleeping European Power and Ibrahimovic may be the missing piece to the puzzle. Zlatan would add flare and strength up top the the Milan team and may yet want to prove a point in the Serie A.
Possibility:
6/10
Sweden- Malmo:
Sweden's hero could potentially make a return home to first club Malmo, but will Zlatan really want to end his career in such a small league and on such a unfavourable challenge- I think not. Zlatan has recently retired from the international stage and Swedish fans will have missed watching him for the national side, so will be praying for a return of Ibra, but do I believe this move will happen? Not really.
Possibility:
2/10
